A few weeks ago, some friends got together and went bowling at the High 5 in Lakeway.  For you foreigners,  Lakeway is a nice, little suburb of Austin…….Texas, of course (still considered part of the hill country).  It had been years since any of us had bowled and my personal memory had something to do with a gutter ball.  No matter, we were all up for a challenge and agreed what a fantastic way to spend a hot afternoon in the dog days of summer.  We all piled into a limo, after having a celebratory birthday toast—it just happened to be my birthday.  The drive from Marble Falls took about an hour.  In the old days, when one could responsibly have a drink in the car, we would say it was a cocktail away.  Because of...

A MUST ON YOUR HILL COUNTRY BUCKET LIST...

It was the perfect time to be at the River Inn Resort in Hunt, Texas.  The weather was getting warmer, schools were still in session, and above all-it wasn’t a camp closing weekend.  It was May and I was back on the South Fork of the Guadalupe River.  It had been years since I’d been there—just out of college and recently married to a third generation Kerrvert.  (That’s what we used to call people from Kerrville.)  I had changed, a lot, but the River Inn had not.  It still was one of the most beautiful places on the river.  The Inn, itself, was built by the same people that built the Inn Of The Hills in Kerrville, back in the day.  Now, all the rooms have been turned into privately owned condos that are...

              You’re thinking…The cafe that has pie happy hour, or the bridge (you saw on national news) that blew up.  Or, the beautiful Christmas lights on the lake.  For sure, that’s what most people think of when they hear the name, Marble Falls…..and they’re all great reasons to go to “The Falls” but, have you been to downtown Marble Falls?  I snapped a few pictures when I took Mitch for a little stroll this morning.  Just add them to your list of why I want to spend the day in Marble Falls, Texas!  Click the links, below the pictures, for more info.         Remember Petula Clark singing...
