BURGERS IN THE HILL COUNTRY RIVIERA...

Summer is winding down, but unfortunately the Texas heat will stick around for a while.  We’re still having 100+ degree days in the hill country so we are either in the water or the air conditioning.  There’s a new place in Kingsland where there’s both—-and you can eat!  It’s Boat Town Burger Bar which is right off the 2900 highway bridge, an area I’ve always thought was the prettiest part of Lake LBJ.  You can drive or go in your boat-it’s got plenty of dock space, probably because they sell boats—lots of beautiful boats.  You may have recognized the name, it’s owned by the same people who own Boat Town in Austin which, by the way, is the place I bought my first wooden Chris Craft—what a beauty!  But, I digress……back to the food……Boat...

LLANO WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT?...

      If your Spanish is at least so-so, or if you’re familiar with the correct pronunciation of a certain West Texas winery, you will catch the muy clever title.   It would sound like “YahNo What I’m talking about?”  And, I’m talking about Llano—another pearl in the Texas Hill Country.  It’s a little town on the YahNo River that most people associate with a very famous bar-b-que place or if you’re a hunter, you know it as “the deer capital of the world“.  But, if you’ve been to Llano recently, I’m sure you’ve noticed a new little umph—a little more pizazz.  I’ve always thought the berg had great bones—wonderful old buildings around a picturesque square with a court house which easily could be a backdrop for a movie……Now, there’s a reason to stop,...
