CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF COOKIES

I love the commercial where Robert Earl Keen looks at the camera and says, “Technology-she’s a cruel mistress”.  That’s how I feel about the weather today.  What a cruel mistress.  And what a tease.  I’m looking out the window and even tho Siri says it’s 46 degrees, it’s windy and grey and in my mind—it’s cold and miserable.  Walking into church today, everyone was talking about what a difference a day makes.  Yesterday, we were on the golf course almost complaining about the heat.  Now, I’m looking out the window getting moodier and moodier.  I’m looking over at Mitch, the dog, and even he is looking like he’s bored and down for the count.  Well, since I didn’t have anything else to do (no good movies on), I started googling how weather affects our moods.  Did you know, according to Carolyn Gregoire of The Huffington Post, violent crime rises as the heat indicator goes up?  No surprise, I get downright pissy when it’s hot and humid.  (Note: stay away from me in August-especially if I have to go to Houston).  And studies show there’s a lower risk of death in warmer climate but get this, suicide goes up in the spring and summer seasons.  That one was a surprise.  I always thought the holidays had the highest depression rate—guess that’s just in my family.  But, I digress.  There’s a really interesting article in The New Zealand

Herald by Nick Haslam, that says when it’s sunny people tip more, shoppers are more astute, and flirty men get luckier.  So men, if your reading this and it’s a sunny day then get out there and shop, then go grab a bite to eat, leave a big tip and chances are you will score.  Here is my take on the subject-the most talked about topic in the world is something I have no control over.  Duh.  And I don’t buy into that weather affects your disposition.  Depression?  No way.  I’ll leave it at that and now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go get the chocolate chip cookies out of the oven and pour a big glass of milk.  For some reason I feel a little urge for comfort food.
