This week, I went back into Austin for a little music fix…..I took in a show at One World Theater.

When you drive by One World Theater, on Bee Caves Road, you wonder if it’s as interesting on the inside as it is on the outside. It is.

It’s a great venue to see various musical artists.  This past weekend, I saw The Everly Brothers Experience.  It’s a couple of brothers, like Don and Phil, that perform all the classic Everly Brothers songs.  I say songs, instead of hits, because not only do they sing the EB top 40 hits, but, they also do the ones that didn’t make it on the charts.  They also throw in interesting tidbits about the famous duo, their song writers, and add a little Smothers Brothers schtick.  Because, I am such a Everly Brothers fanatic (I actually have the Everly Brother’s Pandora station playing as we speak), I think it may be my favorite performance, there, so far.  But, back to the venue…….One World was founded in 1993 and seats about 300.  There’s not a bad seat in the house.   Rascal Flatts, Judy Collins, Dave Mason, Marshall Tucker are some of the artists I have seen at OW  over the years.  It’s charming, quirky, and has an amazing outreach to world-renowned artist.  It also has an expanding education program for youths in the multi-cultural Austin area (and beyond)-including summer camps.

It’s a EBE sandwich!

It’s also a lovely venue for weddings or other special occasions.  It’s a great addition to the hill country and I’m so glad it’s a short drive from Marble Falls.  Here are some of the upcoming shows that caught my eye:  Joan Osborne (10/19), Ricky Skaggs (10/22),  Jimmy Webb (10/26), The Guess Who (11/3), and Riders In The Sky (11/26)  For information about these and other equally entertaining shows, go to oneworldtheater.org  FYI, my favorite seat is in the front row of the upstairs balcony.  Oh, I forgot…….You can go early and enjoy a dinner or just have a nice, relaxing drink.  See you there!

Enjoy the music while having a cocktail or dinner before the show.
