The friendly service starts at the check-in

And, yes, every once and a while I do get out of the hill country.  This time it was to spend Christmas in Colorado.  It usually means a two day trip and the dilemma of wondering where to pull over and break up the trip.  No need to fret anymore…….we have found a fantastic place to spend the night—-The Overton Hotel.  Now, if you are from the Lubbock area or if you have a student at Texas Tech, you’re probably saying, “What took you so long?”.  No kidding.  The hotel bills it self as “The West Texas Address for Stylish Sophistication” and touts it self as being the “first and only AAA Four-Diamond hotel in West Texas”.  Well, it’s on our flight pattern from now on.   Here are some pictures – I hope they show how outstanding the service and ambiance are.  Oh, I almost forgot to mention, The Pecan Grill Restaurant is reason enough alone to stop at The Overton Hotel.  Chef Noxon, with credentials out the wazoo, has top notch menu selections and offers great wine choices to go with each item.  And, the breakfast buffet made me wish I didn’t have to rush and get back in the car………..  What a find.  I could go on, but, here are some pictures….you know, they’re worth a thousand words!

PS—-for you foreign readers, Lubbock is in the Texas Panhandle

Fresh flowers in the lobby go a long way. Especially in Lubbock during the middle of dead winter!

Chef Noxon, The Pecan Grill, is locally sourcing and offers an excellent wine list.

Not too many takers for the outside fire! I think the temp was about 25 degrees that day!  Better choice was the full bar inside!

This woman knows her omelettes—great breakfast buffet!

I’m sure you can find a snack here.

Welcome to The Overton!

If you need to schedule a conference, here’s your place.

Here’s a hint:  Stay on the 14th or 15th floor

and enjoy the well stocked hospitality room.
