Entrance is “99 steps” from Main Street.

Fredericksburg……I know you’ve heard of it.  You’ve probably been there…several times.  It’s, arguably, the best known town in the Texas hill country.  I’ve been going there since the seventies.  That’s a lot of trips to Fritztown.  One of the additions to the German town is the Rockbox Theater-a music venue right downtown, right off the main street.  Today’s show was a tribute to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper.  It’s official name is John Mueller’s “Winter Dance Party“.  Ohhhhhh, the fun music!  I invited my son, Patrick, who greatly lowered the average age in the room.  I kept asking him “Have you heard that song?”.  He would say yes…..sometimes, not very convincingly.  But, come on….how can you not get

into Chantilly Lace, Peggy Sue, and La Bamba!  It’s a fun thing to do that the whole family can enjoy.  Some of the upcoming shows are Michael Hix singing Motown, The Highwaymen Tribute, and The Gatlin Brothers will do a Christmas show.  Here are some pictures I took-up close and personal—-we were on the front row.  If you don’t want to be on the front line, I’d suggest the fourth row back.  They’re more elevated and have tons of leg room since they have a wide aisle in front-which gives you plenty of room to stand up and shake your booty!

In case you didn’t know, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper all died tragically in a plane crash.  It’s referred to as “The Day The Music Died”
