FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I guess I’m kinda bored.  Dennis is on a business trip and Mitch and I are home watching the Ryder Cup.  Don’t you just love that Cadillac commercial where the guy thinks all the gorgeous girls are looking at him?  Especially when he steps off the curve.  Anyway, it’s overcast outside and humid so that’s my excuse for staying inside.  I’ve just tried to duplicate the spinach pizza that I am addicted to at Tea Thyme in Marble Falls.  They use a rice paper for the crust and it is just delicious.  I’ve just got to get that recipe (speaking of Stepford Wives).  Yesterday, I went to the store to get rations so I can hibernate and enjoy the empty nest and I planned on getting lots of stuff done—so far that hasn’t happened.  I have watched Albert paint the garage door, but that’s just about it.  But back to the food.  As I said, I went to the grocery store.  Am I the only one that can’t walk out without spending a hundred dollars?  For three bags?  I try to stay on the outside perimeter (like “they” tell you to do) and not get sucked in to buying bakery items and ice cream.  Product placement and how colors influence our shopping choices are a science and I always wonder is it worth the extra money to buy organic.  And what about name brand or generic? I wonder what to spend the big bucks on.  Of course, when it come to any food, homemade is always better.  I just learned how to make mayonnaise with an immersion blender—so easy!  And I thought Duke’s was good.  Sweetie, homemade mayonnaise is something you can drink.  I can’t wait to make a tomato sandwich.  Here are some more condiments that taste better when made from scratch.  And along the fresh in the kitchen goods, here are sixteen foods that’ll regrow right before you very eyes—could be great for kids to see and realize things don’t come from a jar or carton.  And now, here is my ace in the hole–the rabbit in the hat.  There is a wonderful mail order

company that has deeeeelicious food.  And if you are throwing a shindig, I highly recommend ordering the Perini Ranch tenderloin.  It comes ready to serve and tastes like buddah.  My friend Sandy has served this at her parties for years.  OK, that’s all I got on the subject of food.  Gotta go…..For some reason, I’m getting a little hungry.  Thank goodness it’s sprinkling…..I almost talked myself into going for a walk.
